* La liga cup(spanish league).

What a grat year for lionel messi, of 22, being the first plater from argentina to win the FIFA prize was voted by 147 coaches and captain of national soccer teams from around the world. Lionel messi finished first in balloting, with 1,073 points, ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo (352 points), Xavi Hernandez (196 points), while Kaka (190 points), and Andres Iniesta (134 points).

Also, Messi has already clamied alot of individual honours this year including the Prestigious Ballon d OR Golden Ball from France Football magazine. The screateof award came on the heels of an incredible 2008/09 season that saw messi score 38 goals in 51 games in all competitions. He has also signed a contract extension that ties him ti Bacelona through 2016.

Marta of Brazil was named woman's world player of the year for a record of fourth consecutive time. She has also join LOS ANGLES SOL in the newly formed women's professional soccer league in the United States.

Ronaldo was the winner of the Puskas Award for the most beautiful GOAL of the year, last season champions league "MAN U against FC PORTO.
